Kea
Kiwi Expat Association
Kea is a powerful and effective international community for people with a connection to New Zealand.
Kea harnesses the potential of New Zealand’s diaspora – our offshore community – with special emphasis on those operating at a world-class level, and those who are willing to contribute to New Zealand’s success from wherever they are in the world.
Kea’s mission is to create opportunities for our members to connect with New Zealand and contribute to the growth, development, and future prosperity of New Zealand by facilitating the sharing of knowledge, contacts and opportunities around the world.
Our vision is to build Kea into an essential and permanent national institution that is widely recognised as contributing materially to New Zealand’s social and economic success.
Since its inception in December 2001 as the brainchild of Stephen Tindall and Professor David Teece, Kea New Zealand has grown from a concept into a powerful worldwide network comprising of 25,000 New Zealanders and high-powered ‘friends of New Zealand’ living and interacting around the globe.
In Asia, Kea was first established in China in 2005 to help build on the fast-growing relationship between China and New Zealand in trade, investment, education, tourism and migration and has since grown its Kea China member base to over 1000.
Kea China has active chapters in Shanghai and Beijing with plans to expand our reach to other cities in China. Regular business and social events are held across China offering members and friends opportunities to meet and network.
Owing to a number of recent alliances being formed with local Chambers of Commerce, Kea now has presence throughout Asia including in Hong Kong, Japan, Korea, Singapore and Thailand. Kea is proud to have formed an alliance with the New Zealand Chamber of Commerce in Thailand and looks forward to working together on future initiatives.
Kea provides and manages the online connectivity of Kea members in Thailand and works with the New Zealand Thai Chamber of Commerce on events and communications. With this affiliation agreement in place, Kea and the New Zealand Thai Chamber of Commerce will seek to enhance the benefits for members and partners alike in Thailand.
